Cross Eyed

About us

Cross Eyed Youth (CEY) is Lugarno Anglican Church’s youth fellowship. We enjoy spending time together having fun, sharing meals and building friendships, but also digging into the Bible to understand what God says about humanity and His world!

Most importantly, the best way to live as God’s people is to acknowledge that we are created for the purpose of relating rightly to Him and with each other. This means trusting His loving truth and wisdom, and recognising Jesus as the Son who was sent to give his life as a ransom to save humanity from sin. Jesus is the risen Lord of all, and so we are eager to teach and explain why knowing and serving him should be our ultimate goal in life.

As we look to the cross of Christ (hence our name), we remember the gracious love shown to us while we were still enemies of God. Now reconciled and made new because of Jesus, we live for the eternal hope of redemption, encouraging others to a right relationship with God.

When and where does Cross Eyed Youth run?

Our Friday program starts at 5:30pm and ends around 7:45pm. We normally meet at Lugarno Anglican Church (3A Old Forest Road, Lugarno 2210). Please have a look at our Term Schedule below to note when we have special events (and the change in time and location).

Youth (and parents) are also invited to join us at Sunday Service which starts at 9:30am. During the school term, CEY will host discussion groups separate from the main service, to allow a safe and appropriate space to continue exploring the sermon passage in a format that is helpful and practical for the youth.

Permission Form

It is important that we have sufficient details for each of the youth under our care, especially to help us with the food we serve and in case of any emergencies where we would need relevant contact details for a parent or guardian.

Please fill in this online form so that we can collect the necessary information.

All information collected in this form is kept securely, and will only be used for running the Youth Group program at Lugarno Anglican Church safely. The information submitted via this form is only accessible to Youth Group leaders and the Senior Minister Rev Alan Lam.

Who can join?

Anyone from Year 5 all the way to Year 12 is welcome to come along!! Parents are also free to attend if they would like to observe the youth program and its activities.

Children below Year 5 are encouraged to attend our 3-5pm JAFFA program (Jesus and Fun Friday Afternoon).

Leaders

Josh is currently in his first year at Moore Theological College and serves as a student minister at Lugarno Anglican. He is married to Amy and they both enjoy playing with their cat Zebra and spending time with friends. Their hope is to serve Jesus in Malaysia, their home country.

Glenda grew up in Peakhurst and taught for many years at William Carey Christian School. She loves tennis, swimming and travelling God’s world.

Alex grew up in Lugarno and recently graduated from university - he is keen to work in the Communications field. Alex also teaches Taekwondo part-time!

Nathan is a Lugarno local who attended Cross-Eyed as a youth before becoming a leader! He is starting university this year and looking forward to spending time with other Christians on campus!

Our CEY Leaders are fully trained with up-to-date Safe Ministry Training accreditation as well as valid Working With Children Checks.

Giving

Most Fridays, mothers and other members of Lugarno Anglican take turns to prepare a simple (but scrumptious) supper for the youth. If you would like to contribute to the youth program, we encourage gold coin donations for those who participate. If you would like to make a larger contribution, please email our rector Rev Alan Lam via alan.lam@lugarnoanglican.org.au.
