Cross-Eyed Youth

Cross-Eyed Youth is the youth group of Lugarno Anglican Church, for any teenagers aged Year 6 to Year 12. At Cross-Eyed, we believe that it’s important to have fun together in a safe space, that building good friendships is important for getting through teenagehood, and that good food is essential! But above all, we believe it’s important for youth to get to know Jesus, because only Jesus has the answers that we are searching for.

We meet at the church from 5:50pm to 8pm to play games, to grow in friendship, to care for each other, and to learn about Jesus. If you’d like to join, contact Nelson Parker on 0429567111.

About Us

Many people want to grow up with good relationships—with family, with friends and most of all with God. That’s what we are about at Cross-Eyed. The cross is the symbol of Christianity and it also shows how much God loves us. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. (1 John 4:10). At Cross-Eyed we are about helping youth know the God who loves us to bits, and to live his good way.

Typical Night

On a typical night, we have a great activity or game like life-size Angry Birds, Masterchef night or newspaper hockey. Then we spend some time learning about Jesus from the Bible over some yummy supper. Pretty simple!

Leaders

Our leaders are Nelson Parker, Glenda Brander and Alex Bahn.
Nelson is married to Lydia and they have a young toddler son. Nelson finished a ministry apprenticeship in 2021 at St Marks UNE Church in Armidale and has now come to Sydney to study at Moore College and serve as student minister at Lugarno Anglican Church.
Glenda grew up in Peakhurst and worked in the banking industry before retraining as a teacher. She has taught for many years at William Carey Christian School.
Alex is a Lugarno local and is currently studying at a university in Sydney.
Our leaders have current Safe Ministry Training accreditation, and Working With Children Checks and are totally committed to the safety of the youth in their care. Parents are always very welcome to drop in or stay for an evening.
